That night she cried while playing with her spider. Her mother, fast asleep, dreamt her nothings. Mya looked out her window, she was tired of being lonely. The moonlight created interesting shapes, almost as pretty as her. Mya didn’t need love, she lacked a friend. Soon she would fall asleep. She put her spider back in the corner and went to bed. Tonight, she dreamt rainbow graveyards.
The next morning she awoke, wiping cobwebs from her eyes. She decided she would walk to school today. No one was in the house when the phone rang. Her “friend at school” Julie wanted to know if she needed a ride. “ no, I’m gonna walk”, she said. Julie was two years older than Mya. As a junior, Julie knew the inner workings of their school and would often help Mya when things came up.
